What is Anal Fistula?
An anal fistula is an infected tunnel between the skin and the anus, the muscular opening at the end of the digestive tract. Most anal fistulas are the result of an infection in an anal gland that spreads to the skin. Just inside your anus are several glands that make fluid. Sometimes, they get blocked or clogged. When that happens, a bacteria buildup can create a swollen pocket of infected tissue and liquid. Clinically this is called as abscess, it comes under Practology department.

If you don’t treat this abscess, it’ll grow. Eventually, it’ll make its way to the outside and punch a hole in the skin somewhere near your anus so the gunk inside it can drain. It is the tunnel that connects the gland to that opening.
Few signs denote the presence of the fistula and are as follows:

Diagnosis of fistula
If you have symptoms that suggest an anal fistula :
-
Fistula probe. A long, thin probe is guided through the outer opening of the fistula. A special dye may be injected to find out where the fistula opens up on the inside.
-
Anoscope. This is a special scope used to look inside your anal canal.
-
Imaging studies. These may include an ultrasound, which creates an image of the anal area using sound waves. Or they may include an MRI, which makes images of the area by using special magnets and a computer.

Fistula Treatments
Doctors skillfully perform treatment to know the depth of fistula also decreases their signs. Type of therapy varies with location and extent of fistula. Kalptaru hospital provides laparoscopic and advanced laser treatments to manage the fistula:
At Eravio We offer Laser treatment of fistula :
We are using Lasotronix Laser to treat fistula. In this the probe is inserted into the fistula tract. The direct application of radiations done on the fistula tract to destroy it.
How Laser Works ?
Under LA/GA ,laser Energy is delivered, via radial fiber, into the anal fistula tract and to thermally ablate and close off the abnormal pathway. The laser energy induces destruction of the fistula epithelium and simultaneous obliteration of the remaining fistula tract by a shrinkage effect. The epithelialized tissue is being destroyed in a controlled way and the fistula tract collapses to a very high degree. This also supports and accelerates the healing process.
